Nebraska Sells 41,000 Spring Game Tickets On The First Day Of Sales

The familiar expression that people see a glass as either half empty or half full took on a new meaning Wednesday for Nebraska football fans who bought 41,000 tickets for the Red-White Spring Game on the first day they became available.
The first-day onslaught means that Memorial Stadium is now either half empty or half full for the April 17 Spring Game – a view that depends on whether you already have tickets or still intend to buy them.

Holly Adam, Nebraska’s Assistant Athletic Director for Ticketing, said more than 8,400 tickets were sold in the first 15 minutes they were on sale.

The heavy demand surprised no one. In fact, more than 50 percent of nearly 2,500 voters in a Huskers.com Fan Poll said they planned to buy their Spring Day tickets the first day they were offered. Another 19 percent said they would either buy them sometime later this week or “in plenty of time to get seats.”

About 31 percent of the voters said they would either listen to the game on the radio or were “not into spring football.”

Fans can secure tickets for the Red-White game at Huskers.com, by calling 1-800-8 BIG RED or in person at the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office across the street from Memorial Stadium. Spring Game tickets are $10 each.

The Ticket Office also reminds Nebraska fans that tickets for the Red-White Spring Game on April 17 will go on sale on Wednesday, Feb. 3, beginning at 8 a.m. Tickets are available on-line at Huskers.com, on the phone by calling 1-800-8-BIG-RED or in person at the Ticket Office.

For the second straight year, Nebraska will be selling nearly all of Memorial Stadium on a reserved ticket basis for the spring game. The move last year was met with a favorable response from fans who bought nearly all of the tickets for the 2009 spring game several weeks before the contest.

Athletic department officials expect a similar response in 2010, meaning it is likely there will be no ticket sales on the day of the game, and fans are encouraged to get their tickets early. Last year more than 45,000 tickets were sold by the end of the first day of sales and nearly 60,000 were sold within a week.

The Nebraska Athletic Department has announced that tickets for the Red-White Spring Game will go on sale on Wednesday, Feb. 3, beginning at 8 a.m. The 2010 spring football game is set for Saturday, April 17, at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is 1 p.m.

WHAT EXERCISE BEST INCREASES VERTICAL LEAP?

Which exercise works best to increase vertical leap? That is a commonly asked question that always generates a wide variety of answers.

Some claim that squats, or certain variations of squats, are the most important exercise around to build up vertical leap. Many include additional weight room routines as well but the big focus when it comes to weight lifting is squats, according to those on that side of the discussion.

Others insist that plyometric jump training is by far the most valuable exercise regimen in order to grow vertical leap. What is noteworthy about these claimants is there appears to be a lot of disagreement among them as to exactly how to go about doing plyos properly.

Let us not forget the jump rope gang who see skipping away as the best possible exercise leading to better hops.

Not to be overlooked is the regular old jump up and down group. Naturally there are a number of specific drills involved but this claim centers on the physical act of jumping. The more you jump, the better jumper you become goes the thinking.

There is also those who are very much into buying and selling specialty equipment that will insure that you jump better. Such things as jump shoes and jumping platforms are just two of the variety of jump development products out there.

All of this and more leaves athletes who wish to jump higher basically dazed and confused. With so many answers, where is the truth?

The fact is that the truth lies within some of those claims but not entirely with any of them. The best place to start is to recognize that there is no magic pill, no shortcut, no secret to really growing vertical jump. All of the above can be of some help. None of the above, taken by itself, will grow leaping skills in any really meaningful way.

Each idea mentioned requires work yet none of them done separately provides big time, eye popping results. In other words, the athlete devotes lots of time to do all of the work proposed and only gains partial improvements. That does not seem like the intelligent way to go.

So let us cut to the chase in this matter. Only a comprehensive jump development program that incorporates all the necessary science, knowledge of the human body and well established expertise can lead to major jump development.

There are nine separate areas in jump improvement that must be addressed and practiced to add the big numbers to jump reach. When addressed, adding ten inches to a vertical is not unusual. In fact, it is guaranteed.

Additionally, it is necessary to work with an expert who has trained lots of other athletes to jump much higher and has a well established record of success. Such one on one mentoring in the jump development process is essential.

Importantly, a valid training program cannot be dependent upon access to a certain kind of facility or designated specialty equipment. To be of any value, a quality program will include all of the alternative methods to accomplish the same end results that everyone else in the program can or has achieved. Requiring specific equipment is a deal killer for a lot of athletes.

In summary, the bottom line is that there is no one exercise that will lead to maximum jump improvement. Almost any single exercise will help but only a comprehensive program that includes all nine factors associated with the physical act of jumping will increase your hops by ten inches or more.

Think about it. What would another ten inches on your vertical leap do for you in your sport of choice? What are the advantages to be gained? How much better and more valuable would you become?

To review one of the best comprehensive vertical jump improvement programs ever, just click on the link that follows and consider what it can do for you. With a little focus and a lot of work, everyone around you will be stunned by your way better hops.
