• Eat. Some would suggest this goes without saying. We need food to live right, so what’s so great about cruise food? Well cruise ships have ever changing menus that will give you a taste of the local culture, as well as spoil you for choice by the number of outlets you will find on board. With loads of top chefs under one roof you will always come away with some exquisite food. Try tasting something from every outlet to give your taste buds a workout.
• Swim. You will more often than not find some great swimming pools on board that are perfect for getting some lengths in, having a play around or spending hours on a lilo soaking up the rays. You can enjoy the sun from it’s rise to fall as well because there are no buildings or trees around to block it out. Water flumes, wave-riding machines and water sports activities can be found on many boats and provide unlimited fun.
• Casino. Even if you don’t know a chip from a deck, you should still take time to check out the awesome casinos. Famed for their atmosphere, casinos are a great place to get to know people, have a lot of fun and pick up some tips on how to beat the banker. You don’t have to go out all guns blazing to have a good time. Blackjack is a good starting point to get yourself going if you’re a newbie. Blackjack players are usually friendly and the rules are quick to pick up. Cunard cruises are well known for their excellent casino facilities.
• Bar. There will be a number of different bars all over the ship and some luxury cruise ships are all inclusive, so there is no excuse not to sample some liquid delights. The barmen and ladies make a million martinis a day but will jump at the chance to make something a little more interesting. Ask them to make some traditionally to one of the countries you’re visiting or let them make their favorite drink for you. Some of the things these bar staff can do with simple ingredients will astound you.
• Shows. You are almost guaranteed to find something you like from the wide range of quality performances that cruise ships put on. They will be something for everyone and there are some acts that you cannot see anywhere else. Rhine River cruises often have shows twice a day. Ask the staff around the ship for their recommendations and cruise reviews. They will know what is most popular and which ones you simply have to see.
